Protecting Communities.

The Public Equity Reclamation Office (PERO) is a public-service–oriented organization dedicated to helping displaced homeowners reclaim the foreclosure surplus funds that legally belong to them. Who We Are

Restoring Financial Equity

The Public Equity Reclamation Office (PERO) is a mission-driven, public-service–oriented organization dedicated to restoring financial equity to homeowners who have lost their properties to foreclosure.

We specialize in recovering foreclosure surplus funds—equity that legally belongs to the former homeowner but often goes unclaimed due to lack of awareness, legal complexity, or administrative barriers.

Our Purpose: PERO was founded to ensure that displaced families receive the funds they are entitled to and to reinvest resources into community-based relief programs that support both people and companion animals.

Our Process

How It Works

01

Identify Funds

PERO reviews public records, court filings, and trustee reports to identify cases where surplus funds exist.

02

Verify Eligibility

Our specialists confirm ownership, lien status, and legal standing to ensure the rightful claimant is represented.

03

File The Claim

PERO prepares all required documentation, affidavits, and filings with the appropriate court or trustee office.

04

Advocate

We work directly with courts, trustees, attorneys, and financial institutions to expedite the review process.

05

Disbursement

Once approved, the court issues a disbursement order. Funds are released directly to the homeowner.

06

Community Impact

A portion of recovered funds supports PERO’s operational capacity, funding relief programs for displaced families and animals.

FAQs

Common Questions

Is this money really mine?
If surplus funds were generated from the sale of your property, the money may legally belong to you or your heirs. We verify this through county records before contacting you.
Why haven’t I been notified?
Public agencies are not required to track you down. Many funds remain unclaimed simply because no notice is sent, or notices are sent to the old address (the property that was sold).
How much money could be available?
Amounts vary significantly. Some claims are a few thousand dollars, while others can be much more. We can determine the exact amount available through our preliminary research.
Can I claim funds from years ago?
Possibly. Some funds are held for years, but strict deadlines (statutes of limitations) do apply. It depends entirely on the jurisdiction where the property was located.
What if I moved or changed my name?
That is common. As long as your eligibility and identity can be verified through legal documentation, a claim may still be possible.
What documents will I need?
Typically proof of identity (ID) and proof of connection to the property (old deeds, bills). If the owner passed away, additional heir or estate documents may be required.
What if multiple people claim the funds?
Some cases involve multiple heirs or claimants. We help navigate the legal process required to resolve those disputes and distribute the funds correctly.
What if my claim is denied?
If a claim is denied due to eligibility or legal limitations, you owe nothing. We operate on a contingency basis and only proceed when recovery appears viable.
